Harry Potter Series by: J.K. Rowling

Reviewed by: Nearly Headless Nick
If you are in high school and you haven’t read this series then shame on you! Harry Potter is the third highest read book series in known history. Not only is it a great story, it is one of the best written series that I have ever read. These books are extremely important to me because I grew up reading it. As you read the books the characters move from being children brought into an amazing, magical world to a group of courageous adults fighting the greatest evil the world has ever seen.
When Harry was just one year old his parents were murdered by a dark wizard. When the wizard turned on Harry, his spell inexplicably backfired. The story unfolds with a group of old wizards bringing the baby to his only living relatives. Harry and his friends enter into the wizarding world and Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. While he is in school he meets friends that he’ll never leave and enemies that will never stop.
Harry Potter is an inspirational story about how one person can change the world, stand up to adversity, and fight for what is right. Many people talk about how they won’t read it because it teaches bad things, but I implore them to try it. If you don’t like it after you’ve read the first book then fine, but never judge a book by its cover!

I have been a librarian for more years than you have been alive.  It has been a wonderful career filled with books that have moved me and changed me.  Robert Cormier, the author who has been recognized as the first true Young Adult author says it best....”I have lived a thousand years lost within the pages of a book.”
